The Eastern Trail is both a trail and a vision. The existing Eastern Trail is a combination of off-road trails and scenic quiet country roads with the vision to become an entirely off-road trail in the future.

The Eastern Trail connects Bug Light Park on Casco Bay in South Portland with Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

The Eastern Trail is the southern Maine section of the East Coast Greenway that connects Calais, Maine, with Key West, Florida.
